UBC’s Applied Science Co-op Program is where innovation and hands-on experience shape the future of design and technology. As part of one of Canada’s top three Engineering schools and one of the country’s largest co-op programs—with over 3,500 graduate and undergraduate students across our Vancouver and Okanagan campuses—our program connects students with transformative experiential learning opportunities.

With 13 Engineering disciplines and a Bachelor of Design program, we prepare students to apply their knowledge in ways that create lasting, positive change for society. Our students embrace responsible risk-taking and an innovative spirit while gaining access to exceptional campus resources, instruction from top-tier educators, and unparalleled opportunities for hands-on design and innovation.

Engineering Co-op students bring a diverse set of skills—including project management, engineering design, research and development, software development, data analysis, and environmental assessment—and have gained experience across various industries such as aerospace, biomedical, software, civil infrastructure, environmental consulting, manufacturing, and mining.

Before their first work term, students complete at least two years of courses, and participate in job preparedness workshops that enhance their workplace skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork.
